Q: How do I establish After Hours Pediatrics as my Primary Care Provider (PCP)?
There are 2 ways to establish AHP as your PCP:
1. If your child is not yet born, please wait until your little bundle of joy arrives and then call our office to schedule a newborn appointment.
2. If your child is older, please schedule a well-child check and have your child's medical records forwarded to our office.
Q: Who is on staff to care for my child at After Hours Pediatrics?
Every child is seen by a pediatrician, physician’s assistant or nurse practitioner on every visit.
Q: Does After Hours Pediatrics accept insurance?
Yes, we accept most major insurance plans including all New Mexico Medicaid plans. We also can accommodate cash visits.
After Hours Pediatrics requires payment of Copays and Balances Due at Check-In.

Q: Should I make an appointment before bringing my child to After Hours Pediatrics?
Absolutely. We give priority to patients who have scheduled appointments. If you walk in without an appointment you may have a prolonged wait before being seen. To make an appointment, visit MyAHP or call (505)298-2505.
Q: What hours are you open?
We are open on weekdays from 8am to 11pm, and on weekends and holidays from 2pm to 9pm. Please visit the Contact Us page for the hours of the office nearest you.
Q: Can I get advice over the phone?
Yes, we give phone advice to AHP Primary care patients. If you are a patient of another pediatric practice, we ask that you call their office for advice.

Q: Is After Hours Pediatrics an urgent care?
No, although we provide similar services to Urgent Cares, our patients are seen by appointment. Also, for most health plans our copay is the same as for your primary care provider.
Q: What services do you provide at After Hours?
We provide a full range of Pediatric Primary Care services. This includes well-child checks and routine immunizations as well as more immediate care services such as injury treatment, laceration care (stitches, skin glue or staples), foreign body removal (nose, ears, skin) and breathing treatments. We offer fluoride varnish for primary teeth and vision screening for infants and toddlers. We’re also happy to perform your child’s school, sports, or camp physical.
Q: How do I get a copy of my child’s immunization record?
For immunization records or other medical records, please call (505)298-2505 or sign up for MyAHP.
Q: What if my child needs to be admitted to the hospital?
If your child requires hospitalization AHP will arrange continued care through your pediatric hospital provider.
Q: Do you perform vaccinations and well child check-ups?
We sure do! These are services performed by your primary care provider. If you do not have a primary care physician in the area, we’ll be happy to become yours!
Q: Will my child be seen in a timely fashion at After Hours Pediatrics?
Yes. Sometimes a visit will be delayed by unforeseen circumstances such as the arrival of another child who requires stitches or who might have other issues requiring immediate attention, but most patients are seen at or near their appointed time.
Q: Where will I get my prescriptions filled?
We’re happy to send an electronic copy of your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice
Q: What age patients do you see at After Hours Pediatrics?
We see newborns up through 18 years of age.
